Brand and PR Manager Bev Kloos talks about her ‘later life’ career journey.
Tell us about your background
My background is in Public Relations, working for two major utility companies in senior roles. I specialised in issues and crisis management, which was very fast paced with tight media deadlines and various strategies to manage. It also involved working late nights and over the weekends. When I reached my 50s, I wanted to step back a little as my personal life had significantly changed – from being a ‘single’ completely career focussed woman, to getting married and becoming a stepmother! I took the decision to leave the corporate world and find a part time role which would also suit my skillset.
When and how did you join the company?
I first joined in 2019 as a customer service advisor as I wanted to pursue a different role from Public Relations. I am definitely a ‘people person’ and while I thoroughly enjoyed the role, I eventually left as I wanted to explore yet another challenge! Then, out of the blue, one of the Innovus directors contacted me to offer me a Public Relations role, which I accepted on a part time basis.
What is your favourite thing about working here?
It must be the culture. While the company has a ‘corporate’ mindset, it retains an incredibly open and friendly environment where you feel you really belong. Many of my colleagues talk about the ‘family style’ culture we work in. We work hard, but also take time to nurture strong relationships, which in turn, helps us to achieve our own and the company’s goals.
Would you recommend applying for for a job at Innovus?
Yes, absolutely. The company is so supportive in progressing people. My extensive experience was recognised and this year, I was promoted to a management position.
What is unique about Innovus?
The fact that our company is so inclusive. There are no barriers to join and continue to progress in your career. I consider myself fortunate that at my age I am embarking on a new career journey that I truly feel fulfilled and motivated by.
