When and how did you join us?

I joined in 2015. I was working in a senior role within the retail sector, but maths has always been a passion of mine, so I attained my AAT Level 2 qualification and joined the company as accounts receivable administrator. I wanted to be part of a company where I was happy to start from the bottom again and receive full training and support to progress my career journey.

What does your role entail?

I support the wider Innovus teams by exploring ways to become even more efficient for our customers and clients. It’s ultimately saving time, resource and removing any instances where human error can creep in. I have quite a logical mindset, so analytics is definitely an area where I feel I excel. It’s continually asking why we are carrying out activities, what is the purpose, and how can we add real value. If anyone says it is because we’ve always done it this way, that always makes me ask even more questions.

What makes Innovus unique?

The company has a real passion for encouraging our people to progress and supporting professional qualifications. The company has enabled me to complete my AAT and I am now part ACCA qualified. I think it’s also around our inclusion and diversity commitment. As a gay woman, I know I have a safe and open environment where I can talk about my home life and my wife without the fear of being judged. This is so important for all workplaces.

What are your proudest achievements?

Professionally, it’s about taking that leap of faith to leave a sector in which I had worked for many years to explore a completely new career path. You always wonder if the grass is indeed greener, but the professional support I have received since I joined the company is second to none.

On a personal note, it has to be when I surprised my wife by playing the saxophone at our wedding. She is really hard to keep a secret from, but seeing the look on her face was a very special moment. I am still looking for the next reason to get it out of its case!
